Professional Experience

  1. Small Satellite Embedded Software Engineer

    Apr 2025 – Present

    Hawaii Space Flight Laboratory

    • Developed mission-critical embedded software in C/C++ for a CubeSat platform, including custom RF communication protocols and sensor/payload interfaces integrated under strict power, memory, and real-time constraints.
    • Engineered a telemetry and command (T&C) system for RF communication between embedded platforms using COTS radios and antennas; validated over a 1-mile ground-to-air link in field testing.
    • Wrote automated on-target and script-based tests exercising embedded software through command-driven self-tests, characterizing RF link behavior and catching protocol and integration bugs early in development.
    • Developed embedded Linux user-space software on Raspberry Pi payload computer and debugged microcontroller firmware via GDB/PlatformIO and bootloader recovery, interfacing custom electronics over UART, I2C, and SPI.
  2. Summer Software Engineer Intern

    Jun 2025 – Jul 2025

Academia Sinica Institute for Astronomy and Astrophysics

Internship through the Akamai Workforce Initiative

    • Built a real-time monitoring system for a remote instrumentation site using Prometheus, InfluxDB, and Grafana to track power, voltage, and system health.
    • Processed and visualized RF signal data (FFT spectra, waterfall plots) to support anomaly detection and system diagnostics.
    • Implemented an automated Slack-based alerting pipeline for anomaly detection, enabling rapid response to hardware and system faults.
  3. Computer Support & Resource Specialist

    Feb 2023 – Mar 2025

UH Manoa - College of Social Sciences

    • Supervised Mac and PC computer labs, provided technological assistance for students and instructors, acting as a bridge between the IT department and the students and instructors in the classroom
    • Troubleshoot various technologies, improving resolution times and strengthened interpersonal skills
  4. Lab Assistant

    Aug 2023 – Dec 2023

UH Manoa - College of Natural Sciences

Internship as part of ICS 390 Computer Ethics for Lab Assistants

    • Assisted students in the lab portion of ICS 111: Intro to Computer Science
    • Developed and delivered a 1-week lesson plan to enhance student understanding and engagement, reinforcing foundational computer science concepts using Java
    • Held office hours and strengthened communication and teaching skills by presenting complex topics in diverse, accessible ways
